LED Lights – Why they are so awesome!

by admin on April 22, 2009

I think by now pretty much most people will of seen or used some form of LED light. Well what’s all the fuss about i hear you say? Well this is what i hope to explain to you now.

Traditional bulbs have an element and can go wrong if too much current is passed through them. They also need loads 225px-rbg-ledof power to light them up. LED’s are very simple components that require almost no power at all to light up – and to blow and LED you have to put a lot of current through it!

Here is the WIKI description of an LED;

“LEDs are based on the semiconductor diode. When the diode is forward biased (switched on), electrons are able to recombine with holes and energy is released in the form of light. This effect is called electroluminescence and the colour of the light is determined by the energy gap of the semiconductor. The LED is usually small in area (less than 1 mm2) with integrated optical components to shape its radiation pattern and assist in reflection.[2]” – Source

The spotlight torch shines out above the rest because of its High output .5 wall LED which is insanely bright for its size.

Head on over to our products page to get yourself a spotlight so you can see for yourself!
